Funding

The Transformation Plan comprises three key goals with specific one-off funding allocations of

  • $25 million to enhance social support services
  • $100 million for new housing and upgraded infrastructure in the town camps,
  • $25 million towards managed short-term accommodation to reduce homelessness, including funding from the Social Housing Initiative under the Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan, and
  • $3 million for a Communities for Children site.

Social Support Services Funding Proposals

The Alice Springs Transformation Plan which was established in May 2009 has almost fully committed the $25 million dedicated to enhance Social Support Services in Alice Springs.  This funding complements the large investment in new and upgraded housing and infrastructure on town camps as well as increased visitor and transitional accommodation.

The ASTP will continue to work with the community and indigenous people to improve outcomes for Indigenous residents and visitors to Alice Springs and we encourage people to talk to ASTP staff before submitting additional full proposals for funding.  We thank you for your interest and support in this worthwhile and exciting initiative and feel confident that the programs supported for funding will make a significant contribution to closing the gap in Indigenous disadvantage and across the broader Alice Springs community.
